(RacingWire) - The Patron Highcroft team worked through the night to build a new LMP1 Acura for today's Petit LeMans race at Road Atlanta.
The build was necessary after Scott Sharp's massive practice crash on Thursday left the team's car unrepairable.
A new tub was flown in from Los Angeles early Friday morning and the team went to work bolting on the drivetrain, suspension and other necessary parts.
Team representatives report the build took 20 hours and was completed at 6 a.m. ET. The team was hoping to do a shake down run in the morning worm-up which was scheduled for 8:15 a.m. ET. The warm-up was postponed until 9:45 a.m. ET due to heavy rain.
