(RacingWire) – Long-time SCCA member Joe Stimola died Saturday morning from complications following extensive cardiac surgery.
Stimola's passing was confirmed on the SCCA's New York Region website.
Stimola was a fixture at sports car races for decades and was highly regarded as a suspension specialist and shock tuner. His race car prep business Stimola Engineering tuned cars raced with several sanctioning bodies.
Stimola was also a well respected technical inspector and mentor for teams and drivers.
Funeral arrangements are still pending.
