(RacingWire) - Lotus Renault Formula One driver Robert Kubica has been transfered from the intensive care unit to the orthopedic ward, a sign his recovery is progressing.

The news came from a brief statement on the team's website.
The site also confirmed doctors are planning to take Kubica back to the operating room on Friday to further repair his arm and leg.
Kubica's team was on the track in Jerez taking part in another F1 winter test session. Teammate Vitaly Petrov was in this car Thursday and test driver Bruno Senna and F1 Veteran Nick Heidfeld are set to test for the team later this week.
