(RacingWire) - Fernando Alonso, in his Ferrari debut, won the Bahrain Grand Prix after Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull car suffered a broken header late in the race.
Alonso's teammate Felipe Massa finished second in his return following the skull fracture he received in a freak accident at last years Hungarian Grand Prix.
The race was the first with the new no-refueling regualations in place. The top teams were able to do sub-four second pitstops.
McLaren's Louis Hamilton finished third. Vettel limped home his pole winning car for a fourth place finish.
Mercedes GP's Nico Rosberg held off his teammate seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher on his return to F1. They finished fifth and sixth respectively.
Lotus was the only new team to finish the race. Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli finishing 15th and 16th.
