The Action Racing No. 9 Porsche Riley outpaced the field to take the overall win at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

RacingWire Photographer Scott Curbow braved the weather and sleep deprivation to cover the Rolex 24 at Daytona and for that we get to enjoy his work!!!

Scott Pruett didn't have the horses to catch the leader in the final laps.  His Ganassi Racing BMW finished 2nd.

Sunrise in Daytona... need we say more?

The Beyer Racing Chevrolet Crawford retired after 319 laps.

Kevin Roush:  "Obviously, it's very heart-breaking given how hard the team worked changing the gearbox to get us back out there. In spite of Peter getting a little contact from another prototype that hurt the alignment, Bryce was just flying at the end and the car looked like it was awesome. Peter said it was still a joy to drive, so it was definitely on pace, just had a whole bunch of mishaps. The team did a fantastic job and gave us a good shot to finish at the end."

Rain early, followed by gray skies, made for an eventful opening stint.

Dario Franchitti: "It's a catch-22 situation. I want to watch the race, because it's exciting - I'm a race fan and I want to see what's happening. On the other hand you've got to distance yourself and just focus on your job. So I'll watch for a little while and sleep. I've got six hours until I get back into the car. I'll probably eat, watch some TV and sleep, then get ready for another go in the middle of the night."

A.J. Allmendinger: I felt like this was the best 24 that I’ve ever run. I had a triple stint starting around 3 am and then was ready to run a lot of laps with a triple again to get it to the finish. This was no ones fault. Everyone worked really hard and we wanted to get back up on the podium for Mike Shank. It’s disappointing, but we’ll be back, no question. I’m going to win one of these things if it kills me. Once again a great car, a great team just bad luck. Thanks to everyone at Ford for the effort that they put into this, and I’m looking forward to running with Ford in Sprint Cup this year.”

Fireworks fill the night sky... a fan favorite.

The No.02 car looked strong in the early evening hours...

... but a motor failure ended the No.02's race before dawn.

The Wil Mar Racing Ferrari 430's problems forced the car to retire after 112 laps.

5-time Rolex 24 winner Hurley Haywood's last race in professional competition ended in the garage.  It was Haywood's 37th Rolex 24.

The boys at TRG sure know how to light up a car at night!

The Autohaus Motorsports Pontiac sustained heavy damage on way to a 40th place finish.

Begs the question... where do you start?

All was fine until an untimely encounter with the curbing at the "Bus Stop" destroyed the front splitter and sent the hood flying.  The crew at Michael Shank Racing changed the splitter on pit road in under three minutes.

In the early morning hours it looked like the Stevenson Camaro was strong enough to take the GT win.  That turned out not to be the case.

On Thursday nights he's McDreamy... on Sunday afternoons he's McSpeedy!!!  Race car driver/actor Patrick Dempsey in the No.40 Mazda RX-8.

Jonathan Bomarito: "Amazing... I was fortunate enough to do this race with these same three guys last year. And to be able to come back and have that continuity and that relationship, we just felt so confident in all of each other's ability, the car, and we knew what we had to do. We just had to stay out of trouble and keep the car on the track, and we did that. And here we are. I got a new Rolex. I can't believe it."

The TRG/Flying Lizard team finished 2nd in GT, four laps behind the class winners.

Bobby Labonte showed once again that NASCAR drivers can turn right... and that all race cars don't have the engine in the front.  The No.71 finished 9th in class.

Patrick Long: "There were times where I'm sure the Stevenson guys thought they had it in the bag where we thought we had it. The 71 and, of course, the Mazda guys, did a great job."

Max Papis: "That's why Chip hired me," Papis said. "He hired me to run fast and take chances. I leave my friends at home."

The Fresh from Florida 200 ST class winning Honda.

RumBum Racing takes the Fresh from Florida 200 GS crown.
