(RacingWire) – Tony Stewart needed a photo finish with Clint Bowyer to complete a Nationwide Series Daytona International Speedway four-peat Saturday.
Stewart came from 11th place with nine laps to go win the DRIVE4COPD 300.
Stewart was pushed to the finish by Landon Cassill beating Bowyer by .007 seconds making it his fourth consecutive Nationwide Series win at the famed tri-oval.
“This is momentum and a great way to lead into tomorrow,” said Stewart. “There’s nothing better than going back to the motorhome tonight knowing you just won the race and have a shot of doing it tomorrow.”
The race was the latest display of the two-car drafting technique that has become the rule since DIS was repaved in the off season. Bowyer's drafting partner was Dale Earnhardt Jr. who finished fourth.
The race was relatively incident free until Cassill got together with drafting partner Brad Keselowski. Keselowski spun to the infield in the tri-oval then shot back towards the wall collecting Josh Wise. Wise hit Keselowski in the right side door area at full speed causing severe damage to each car ending both drivers' day.
Danica Patrick had her best finish in 14 Nationwide Series starts. After leading briefly Patrick finished 14th, one lap down.
