RICHMOND, Va (RacingWire) - Kyle Busch won the Virginia 529 College Saves 250 at Richmond International Raceway to claim his eighth Nationwide Series checkered flag of 2011.
Carl Edwards was second and series points leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished third.
Stenhouse Jr's third place finish earned him the $100,000 Nationwide Series Dash 4 Cash bonus and extended his points lead over Elliot Sadler to 16. Sadler finished sixth.
The race was dominated by Busch and Edwards who combined to lead 234 of the race's 250 laps.
"These guys made some awesome adjustments all night making the car better for us and just making it a little more drivable," said Busch. "Every run we got closer and then there at the last run we just had track position and a good car."
There were several incidents in the race... most notably a brush up between Kevin Harvick and Trevor Bayne. Bayne took the air off Harvick's rear spoiler getting him loose and then Harvick turned Bayne car into the wall ending the Roush team driver's day.
Danica Patrick used the off weekend in IndyCar to squeeze in a Nationwide race in the No.7 Go Daddy Chevy. She finished one lap down in 18th... but not before getting into Brad Keselowski on lap140.
The incident caused enough damage to Keselowski's car to take him from contention.
It was Busch's 51st career Nationwide Series win extending his record as the series' all-time race win leader.
