(RacingWire) - Joey Logano and Kyle Busch traded the lead several times over the last 100 laps as the Joe Gibbs Racing duo finished one-two at the Nashville Superspeedway Nationwide Series race.
"He (Joey Logano) had a better car on the short run and we had a better long run car,' said Busch. "It was just a shame that we weren't able to get out there and win this thing. That's kind of frustrating, but we finished second today."
The race was relatively incident free until a crash with 8 laps left. Several cars scattered when Joe Nemechek car came together with Michael Annett causing Nemechek to take a wild ride.
Nemechek's car flipped on to its roof momentarily before landing back on its wheels. As soon as the car was rubber side down 'Front Row Joe' was driving it away from a nose-first encounter with the safer-barrier.
Nemechek drove his Nationwide Insurance Chevrolet back to the pits but the roof flaps were too damaged to let him finish the race. The incident brought out the red flag for a quick cleanup.
When the cleanup was finsished there was a five lap dash for the finish. Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski ran up front all day but had nothing for Logano and Busch in the last laps. Keselowski, Kelly Bires, and Edwards rounded out the top five.
Nashville is the first of four stand alone Nationwide races on the schedule and a great opportunity for non-Sprint Cup drivers to showcase their talent. Other notable non-cup drivers were Steve Wallace (9th), Scott Lagasse, Jr. (10th), Stephen Leicht (11th), Jason Keller (12th), Burney Lamar (13th), Shelby Howard (14th) and Michael McDowell (15th).
