Join us as a RacingWire.info reporter or photographer.  While we prefer people with experience this is an opportunity for someone who is eager to break into to motorsports journalism to get their foot in the door.  We will train you and help you with your writing and photography.  Our most important requirements are your desire, ability to conduct yourself in a professional and ethical manner and a willingness to work pretty hard.  You will receive media and/or photo credentials to cover the events.  In return, you will file a preview story, race recap, and a feature story.  Photographers will file an action photo from the race as well as fill assignments for head shots and car shots for use as file photos for future stories.

Compensation will include by-line and photo credit.  You will retain the copyrights to your stories and photos but will grant RacingWire.info rights to use the material in any media currently available or yet to be created in perpetuity.

Since we are not yet in a position to compensate our reporters and photographers monetarily we anticipate needing to use local people to cover all of our events including the major series.  This will be a great opportunity for beginner reporters and photographers to cover some major events.

In addition to the major series we are looking for reporters and photographers to cover all levels of motor racing.  I doesn't matter how small the event, if you would like to cover it we will probably publish your story.  We require all reporters to clear event coverage with our assignment desk before the event.  Those interested in covering a professional race series please send an e-mail to brian.racingwire@gmail.com .   If you are interested in covering a local racing series please send let us know what event(s) you wish to cover by sending an e-mail to desk.racingwire@gmail.com .

Reporters and photographers will be sent information regarding our style guide and our ethical standards.  We will adhere to the Society of Professional Journalists code of ethics.  Please check out this link to find out the manner with which our staff will conduct themselves.  In addition to the SPJ code of ethics these rules apply.

  1. No reporter or photographer may gamble on any motor sports event.
  2. Other than press passes for event coverage, RacingWire.info staff may not accept tickets, travel expenses, meals, gifts or any other benefit from teams or promoters.  Staff are permitted to accept the light refreshments routinely offered in press boxes during events.
If you think you want to join RacingWire on the ground floor give drop us an e-mail at desk.racingwire@gmail.com
