Sprint Cup - Kyle Busch wins Shootout with slingshot

(RaingWire) - Kyle Busch used an old school slingshot move on defending Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart to win his first Budweiser Shootout Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway.  Stewart finished third and Marcos Amborse rounded out the top three.

The race was marred by several multi-car wrecks as drivers tried to figure out what the limits were of the cars in their new aerodynamic configuration.

The worst incident found Jeff Gordon sliding on the roof of his No. 24 Henrick Motorsports Chevy for hundreds of feet before the car began to barrel roll several times.  It came to a rest on its roof.  Gordon escaped the wild ride uninjured.

The 75 lap dash for cash saw a return of pack racing.  A result of NASCAR's efforts to reduce the two-car tandem drafting seen at Daytona last year.  Nearly every car in the field was knocked out by a wreck or had some damage by the end of the race.

The Sprint Cup drivers will be back on track Sunday at 1 p.m. ET to qualify for the Daytona 500.
